Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Nov. 14, 2017) – The streak is alive!

Seth Bergman captured a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour feature victory for the sixth straight season last Saturday during the season finale at Cocopah Speedway.

“It’s a sigh of relief to get back to Victory Lane,” he said. “That’s our focus week in and week out and we hadn’t been able to accomplish that goal all year so to get one during the final race of the season is huge. It helps us end 2017 on the right foot and spring boards us into 2018.”

Bergman kicked off the three-race finale on Thursday by advancing from third to second place during a heat race. He then maneuvered from fourth to second place in a qualifier and ranked third in overall points to garner the third starting position for the 25-lap A Main.

“We ran third for a while before passing for second midway through the race,” he said. “I felt like I was running Travis Rilat down for the lead, but traffic didn’t go our way in the final laps and we ended up losing a spot.”

Bergman placed third and returned to the track on Friday for Round 2. He finished second in a heat race after starting third and charged from fourth to win a qualifier. That earned him the pole position for the main event.

“We got a great start and took off to the lead,” he said. “I went to the top in turn one, but Joey Saldana had a great start as well and his momentum on the bottom put him in front of us down the backstretch.”

Bergman ran second the entire race and once points were calculated from the two preliminary nights he was on top of the charts. That gave him the pole for Saturday’s $5,000-to-win main event.

“I knew getting the lead right away would be important and we were able to do that,” he said. “I was setting a good pace, but with the competition around me I couldn’t just ride. I had to be aggressive and that cost me. I tried to slide Justin Sanders to lap him and had to get on the brakes to avoid contact. That opened the door for Aaron Reutzel.”

Bergman fell to second with approximately 10 laps remaining after the near miss in traffic, but he rebounded in the closing circuits and retook the lead with three laps remaining.

The victory also boosted Bergman into fifth place in the championship standings, which was his second-best points finish with the series.
