Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2017) – Seth Bergman produced his best-ever performance at the 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank last weekend.

Bergman charged from 21st to ninth on Thursday during his preliminary night before he capped the 27th edition of the marquee event at Knoxville Raceway by finishing 12th on Saturday.

“I think the laps we’ve gotten at Knoxville recently really helped prepare our team for the 360 Knoxville Nationals,” he said. “We started it off with a great qualifying lap and that is crucial in an event where there are 90-plus racers.”

Bergman qualified second quickest out of 43 drivers to open Thursday’s preliminary night. He then finished where he started – sixth – in a heat race, which relegated him to the B Main.

“It’s tough starting sixth after qualifying so well and having so many good drivers in front of you,” he said. “We weren’t able to get any positions in the heat race so we had to race the B Main.”

Bergman won the consolation race to garner a transfer into the back of the main event. He then powered from 21st to a ninth-place result, which earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“We were able to miss a big wreck on the start and that gained us a few positions,” he said. “We had a really good car. Once we restarted we picked cars off one by one. It always gets tougher to pass once you get into the top 10.”

Bergman ranked 10th in event points once the preliminary nights were calculated. That locked him into the 10th starting position for Saturday’s A Main.

“We didn’t have the car as good as we would have liked,” he said. “We dropped back a few positions early before we rallied in the closing laps.”

Bergman ended the event with a 12th-place result.
