Inside Line Promotions – RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 22, 2014) – Seth Bergman rallied to post his 21st top 10 of the season last Friday at Black Hills Speedway.

Bergman opened the event by dropping to a third-place result after starting on the pole of his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race.

“I got a decent start and I don’t know what happened behind me,” he said. “Tony (Bruce Jr.) ended up going around me. By the time I got to turn one he got around me and was better than me. I tried some things on a restart to get back around him and it allowed (Matt) Covington a shot to slide me.”

That lined Bergman up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“It was dusty,” he said. “The track having cones out there to police drivers from going to the infield was a bad idea. Those got used up. As soon as those cones got knocked out of there, turns three and four turned into a nightmare. By the time you got to the apex until you were on the frontstretch you didn’t know where you were.”

Bergman made most of his passes in the opening laps before visibility became an issue.

“I was rolling really good at the beginning,” he said. “As the race went on turns one and two shaped up to be not as racy as it was at the beginning and turns three and four just went straight to the infield.”

Bergman ended with a sixth-place finish.

“We got out of there and survived,” he said. “You have to take it for what it is.”

His team trucked approximately 20 hours during the remainder of the weekend to return to his home state of Washington, where Bergman will compete this Friday and Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger for the $10,000-to-win Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals.

“I like to go and race big races when we can outside of the tour,” he said. “It’s been one of the races I’ve wanted to win since I was a kid. This year I feel I have 100 percent confidence that I can win it.”

Bergman was victorious during his only race at Skagit Speedway this season.
